About this online eye test
Free online eye test from Ópticas LUPER
Online eyesight test on your mobile or computer: visual acuity in each eye, an astigmatism test, contrast sensitivity, the Amsler grid and near vision (ageing eyes). First we adjust your screen with a card so the letters appear at their real size. The result is for guidance only; to confirm it, book your free eye test at our opticians in Murcia and San Pedro del Pinatar.
Does it work as a test for short-sightedness or presbyopia? It gives you a guide: the distance test with each eye shows whether you see worse at a distance (as happens with short-sightedness, or myopia), and the near test shows whether you find it hard to read up close (presbyopia, or ageing eyes). To know what you have and what prescription you need, you need an eye test.
How do I know if I need glasses? If any test comes out as “check soon”, or you notice that you hold your phone further away, squint or see worse at night, it’s a good idea to get your eyes checked. The personalised eye test is free (worth €49) at our three opticians.
How the test works, step by step
It will take about 5–7 minutes. At each step we’ll tell you what to do and, before each test, you’ll do a practice run that doesn’t count.
What you need
- A card: a bank card, ID card or driving licence. If you don’t have one, a ruler.
- Your glasses or contact lenses, if you wear them.
- Someone to help you (best) or 1 metre of space in front of the screen.
- Good light and your screen brightness turned up, with night mode off.
What you’ll do
No card, or no one to help you? No problem: you can also do it on your own and without a card; we’ll explain how at each step.
If you’ll be away from the screen, tap “Listen” (at the top) and we’ll read the instructions out loud.

Choose an option. The letters are drawn for that distance, so it’s important to stick to it.
To measure 1 or 2 metres, a tape measure is best. If you don’t have one, 2 metres is about 3 normal steps.

Do all the lines look equally black and sharp?
Look at the whole drawing without moving closer. If you’re not sure, tap “I’m not sure”: that’s fine.
Tap the numbers of the lines that look darker. You can choose more than one.
Looking steadily at the black dot in the centre, do all the lines look straight and the grid complete?
Keep your eye on the dot. If in doubt, tap “I notice something odd” and tell us about it.
What do you notice? Tick what you see. If you like, tap on the grid where you see it.
Which word appears in the box? Tap that word.
Don’t bring the screen closer. If you can’t read it, tap “I can’t read it”: that’s fine.
